All lawyers are not created equal. A "trial lawyer" is not another name for "litigation attorney." Many "litigation attorneys" have never tried a case, but some are excellent at case preparation.
The fact of the matter is this: Not all attorneys are cut out for -- or even enjoy -- jury trials. Joe Cronin loves it. He'd be honored to accept cases from other attorneys to have their cases tried to verdict. The case may be referred in however close to trial, under the right circumstances.
Having been on the defense side for over a decade, Mr. Cronin can assure you that the insurance companies know very well which plaintiffs' attorneys will and will not "try the case." They make it their business to know. It is naive to think that insurance companies offer the same money to every attorney irrespective of his/her jury trial experience.
So the message is simple. Don't settle cheap -- let Joe Cronin try your case.
The right partnership can create a better outcome for the client. Isn't that what our mission is supposed to be anyway?
